Affinity Credit Union Awards $4,500 in Student Scholarships
Affinity Credit Union awards $4,500 in scholarships and is pleased to recognize their scholarship recipients.
Emily Lowe will graduate from Saydel High School and plans to attend Simpson College where she hopes to pursue a degree in Exercise Science and Psychology. Emily holds a grade point average of 4.04 and is a member of the National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Saydel De DECA club, and Saydel Student Leadership. Some of Emily's High School activities include cross country, basketball, and track.
Kaitlynn Carr will graduate from Lincoln High School and plans to attend Monmouth college to pursue a degree in Psychology and Music. Kaitlynn holds a grade point average of 3.6 and was a member of the National Honor Society. Kaitlynn’s High School activities include choir ensemble and theatre performer.
Benjamin Payzant will graduate from North High School and plans to attend Des Moines Area Community College and Iowa State University to pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Benjamin holds a grade point average of 3.94 and has held elected positions in both student body government and National Honor Society. Benjamin is a former team captain of the robotics team.
Affinity's scholarship program was established in 1999 to encourage young adults to learn about the credit union movement and to prepare themselves for future challenges. Affinity Credit Union awards multiple $1,500 scholarships every year to talented college-bound students at Des Moines North, Des Moines Lincoln & Saydel High School. Students who applied for the scholarship were judged on an essay and resume they submitted.
