Peoples Credit Union Announces Winner of Community Vote Donation
Fort Dodge, Iowa (November 18, 2019): To commemorate Peoples Credit Union relocation to a newly constructed branch in Fort Dodge, Peoples CU pledge to make a charitable donation to a local organization. There were three charities nominated by the staff that met Peoples’ eligibility requirements: 1) must be a local charity, 2) must be non-profit, 3) must embrace the idea of People Helping People. Peoples CU invited the public to vote online between November 6 – 14th to select the winner of a $1,000 donation.
As part of the ribbon-cutting ceremony of their new building, Jordan Hensley, President and CEO of Peoples Credit Union announced the winner of the community vote was the Fort Dodge Domestic-Sexual Assault Outreach Center. Brenda McBride, Executive Director of DSAOC, was present to accept the check and express her sincere appreciation for the $1,000 donation. “Each year approximately 200 women take refuge at DSAOC and thanks to the DSAOC staff and the support of the community, these women are able to leave the shelter feeling stronger, confident and hopeful of the future. Demonstrating the true meaning of people helping people” said Jordan Hensley. “We are happy to be a part of such a caring community.”
The other two nominated charities did receive smaller contributions simply as a recognition of their service to the community.
