A Unique Employee Benefit - UICCU Employees Participate in The Big Give
Every November the employees and volunteer Board of the University of Iowa Community Credit Union get to take part in a fun event that has been dubbed The Big Give. Each person can direct a $250 check to their favorite local charity. This month over 400 checks will be mailed to the individual charities that the staff have selected.
“UICCU supports hundreds of Iowa charities with cash donations and volunteer hours throughout the year, but this particular promotion has become a staff favorite,” said Jim Kelly, UICCU’s Chief Marketing Officer. “It allows staff to direct the funds to the local charity that means the most to them.”
With over 400 staff, it means roughly $100,000 in checks will be mailed out this week with cards that include the name of the staff that selected the organization to support. Dozens of different charities make the list each year.
“It’s great to hear back from the charities that our staff have chosen. For many of these organizations, it’s an unexpected shot in the arm during the holiday season,” added Kelly.
UICCU is a member-owned financial cooperative with an 80-year history of serving Iowans. It serves 190,000 members and is Iowa’s largest credit union.
