Member Business Loan Officer

Reports to: President/CEO

Position Purpose: Ensure member business loan policies and procedures best serve the credit union and its members. Ensure compliance with state and federal business lending laws. Develop and enhance the business loan portfolio. Oversee member business lending staff. Approve/deny and process business loan applications. Operate with substantial credit authority. Provide input to the CEO on potential new products and services for the business lending department.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Promote & develop business loan products and services that best serve the credit union and its members.
  • Ensure business loan policies, procedures, services, products, and documentation meet federal and state regulations.
  • Provide input and recommendations for lending interest rates.
  • Evaluate job performance of subordinates to ensure quality work and service to members.
  • Develop and assess monthly loan reports.
  • Gather background information on members applying for business loans by interviewing applicants. Handle loans of complexity, value and risk.
  • Pull credit reports, verify debt and monthly payments for any outstanding debts not listed. Calculate debt service on loan applicants. Request and review required business/personal documents for underwriting.
  • Explain reasons of denial or negotiate terms of credit approval.
  • Review loan applications and present recommendations to the credit committee. Complete loan documents and disburse loans when approved.
  • Ensure loan files are complete, quality of documentation. Verify lien is perfected and insurance is current.
  • Manage loan portfolio including renewals, modifications, updated credit analysis, collections, and portfolio monitoring.
  • Coordinate collection efforts for credit union’s business accounts.
  • Professionally resolve complaints from members and non-members.
  • Maintains a positive working relationship with customers, credit union staff, local professionals, centers of influence, and community organizations.
  • Work with other lending departments and member services to cross sell other credit union products and services as appropriate.
