Technology Officer – Advantage Credit Union
Location: Newton, IA FLSA Status: Full-time, Non-Exempt
Reports To: Vice President of Operations
Advantage Credit Union is a member-focused financial institution dedicated to providing exceptional service and secure, reliable banking solutions. We’re looking for an IT expert to join our team and help us maintain the technology systems that power our operations while ensuring compliance, security, and risk management excellence.
The Technology Officer will oversee daily technology operations and play a key role in protecting the credit union’s systems and data. This position is responsible for IT support, cybersecurity, risk assessments, and audit preparation. It’s a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on technology work while also ensuring compliance with regulations and industry’s best practices.
What You’ll Do
- Provide day-to-day IT support for staff (hardware, software, and network troubleshooting).
- Administer servers, user accounts, system access, and updates.
- Monitor and maintain security controls, backups, and disaster recovery systems.
- Conduct IT risk assessments, document findings, and recommend improvements.
- Work with auditors and regulators during IT-related audits and exams.
- Maintain IT policies, procedures, and business continuity plans.
- Train employees on cybersecurity awareness and safe technology use.
- Partner with vendors and service providers to keep systems secure and reliable.
What we are looking for
- Associate’s or bachelor's degree in IT, Cybersecurity, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years of IT support/administration experience, financial industry experience a plus.
- Knowledge of networking, Windows environments, and access management.
- Experience with IT risk assessments, audits, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills
- Commitment to confidentiality and protecting member data.
