Santa Claus at Serve Credit Union
For the 3rd year in a row, Serve Credit Union adopted a family close to our field of membership that was in extreme need this holiday season. Not necessarily of money, gifts or resources, but more for a little bit of hope and a little bit of relief to make it through a difficult time.
In October 2021, Trooper Ted Benda was involved in a fatal on duty vehicular accident. We adopted his wife, Holly, and 4 daughters: Madilyn, Avery, Vivyan and Sylvia.
Over the months of November and December, we asked our members, staff and strategic partners to spread the word, collect and donate to this deserving family. We also matched these donations through the week of Giviing Tuesday!
On Tuesday, December 21st, Hayley traveled the 2 1/2 hours to Oelwein District 10 to deliver gifts! With the help of a few State Troopers, the Benda Family received:
- Family Christmas Jammies
- Clothes for the girls
- Boxes and Boxes of diapers for Sylvia (they had to make 2 trips)
- Board games
- Disney toys for Vivyan
- Stockings of candy and little goodies
- Snuggly Blankets
- Spending money for the older girls
- Over $700 worth of gift cards
- And a check for over $2,500
