Dupaco Community Credit Union Plans Learning Lab Branch in Cedar Falls
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa—Dupaco Community Credit Union plans to build a full-service learning lab branch at the northeast corner of the intersection of Viking Road and Highway 58 in Cedar Falls, Iowa. The retail space at 126 Brandilynn Blvd is expected to open in summer 2022.
On Wednesday, May 12, representatives from Dupaco and Grow Cedar Valley officially broke ground at the future site of the two-story, 10,107 square foot branch.
The planned learning lab branch underpins the credit union’s mission to improve each member’s financial well-being. The branch design better enables Dupaco staff to help members understand and control their money through hands-on demonstration of Dupaco desktop, tablet, and mobile deposit services, and more.
On-site branch employees can focus on having deeper conversations with members about money thanks to a technology called a live video teller, which allows live tellers to conduct real-time, face-to-face transactions from a distance. Dupaco employees located at a central location in Dubuque remotely will operate the Cedar Falls Learning Lab lobby and drive-through video teller machines.
The new video teller technology is intended to boost the credit union’s mission to improve each member’s financial position, according to Dupaco VP, Regional Branch Services Matt Loesche.
“Video tellers will give members more access to Dupaco branch employees in order to have deeper conversations about money, products, and services,” he said. “We also expect the video tellers to increase future opportunities for member convenience—to serve more members, in more places, with expanded hours of service.”
In addition to the video teller technology, Dupaco’s newest Learning Lab Branch will feature:
- iPad training counters to help members learn how to use Dupaco’s increasing number of convenient mobile services;
- Interactive laboratory tables for small group discussions and offices;
- Built-in electronic wall displays to aid in consultations about money; and
- Signage and lighting which use LED illumination to conserve energy and reduce electricity costs by more than 35% annually.
In addition to financial products and advice, Dupaco also offers insurance and investment services.
The new Cedar Falls Learning Lab location will be the credit union’s 21st branch. The credit union serves members in Iowa, Wisconsin, and Illinois. Its Iowa locations include Dubuque, Cedar Rapids, Marion, Waterloo, Cedar Falls, Dyersville, Manchester, and Carroll. Dupaco currently serves members in Black Hawk County from three branches:
- 3301 Cedar Heights Dr., Cedar Falls
- 1946 Schukei Rd., Waterloo
- 218 W. Mullan Ave., Waterloo
Forbes Magazine ranked Dupaco one of the top Iowa credit unions in 2018, 2019 and 2020. It is a Des Moines Register Top Workplace.
