Metco Credit Union Awards $1,500 in College Scholarship Funds

Metco Credit Union is excited to announce the winners of their College Scholarship program! This is the seventh year Metco Credit Union has awarded scholarships to eligible members, and this year, Metco awarded $500 scholarships to the following members: Kaitlyn Goldsberry and Nolan Jacobs, high school seniors; and Reygan Weber, a current college student. All three members are from Cedar Rapids, IA. The winners are encouraged to use their scholarship funds to assist with paying tuition, room and board, or any other need they have as they prepare to attend college this fall.

Students were required to submit a scholarship application by March 31, 2020, along with a 300-500 word essay on the topic, "What is your greatest financial fear/concern for the future, and what steps can you take to either overcome it or prepare for it?"

“We received several great entries this year,” said Metco VP of Operations, Regan Carlo. “Almost every submission talked about students being in fear of going into debt, and concerns over paying it back. However, there were also many great ideas for preventing debt, as well as plans for getting out of it,” continued Carlo.

“We are thrilled to be able to contribute to the educations and futures of these deserving members,” said Metco CEO, Brad Mertens. “Our company tagline is, ‘Your Pathway to Financial Success,’ and while we work each day to help our members build a better financial path, we also believe that education is a key component for future financial success.”
