Serve Credit Union partners with the Des Moines Police Burial Association to Award Scholarships

For several years, Serve Credit Union has facilitated and co-funded the awarding of five, $1,000 scholarship with the help of Des Moines Police Burial Association.  This year's essay question was, "How will the raise of taxes on Iowa Credit Unions affect you and your family?" which did require some extra thought than questions in the past!

We were blown away by five of our many applicants, and with the help of several ICUL network judges, we were able to award to the following:

Kaitlyn Galetich: Daughter of a Polk County Deputy.  She is attending Iowa State in the fall for her junior year. "My future career plans include getting a paid internship this summer in a marketing position, preferably in the sports industry. My long term future career plans include getting a job in the marketing industry that pays well enough to support myself and my family."

Abigail Bruck: She is attending Midland University in the fall for her sophomore year. "After receiving my degree in Education with certification in Special Education and Coaching I would like to employed as an elementary teacher and coach swimming or track."

Morgan Halifax: Daughter of a Des Moines Police Officer.  She is attending Iowa State in the fall as an incoming freshman. "I am going to continue my career in the Iowa Army National Guard as a Military Police Officer while attending Iowa State University to get my bachelors degree."

Ashlynn Zemlicka: She is attending the University of Iowa in the fall as an incoming freshman. "I want to complete my undergraduate in psychology with the intentions of completing my masters and getting my PhD to become a practicing psychologist."

Quintin Blad: Son of a Des Moines Police Officer. He is attending the University of Iowa in the fall as an incoming freshman. "I plan to study Chemical engineering for my undergraduate degree at The University of Iowa. After the completion of my undergraduate, I plan to attend a master program either at the University of Iowa or elsewhere. With the capabilities this provides I hope to work for a business which participates in space exploration and work with the chemical processes therein."

We are so proud of our recipients and are excited to see what the future holds for them!
