Cedar Falls Community Credit Union Announces 2019 Scholarship Winners
Cedar Falls, IA - Cedar Falls Community Credit Union is excited to announce the recipients of their annual educational scholarships. CFCCU Members Olivia Remmert and Matthew Timmer have each been awarded a $1,000 scholarship to continue their education.
Applicants were required to prepare an essay on the following question: Credit Unions were founded on the philosophy of "people helping people" what can credit unions do to help make a difference in our communities?
Olivia Remmert is currently attending Cedar Falls High School with future plans of attending the University of Iowa to study Health Science. Olivia was selected for her entry where she gives multiple examples of how credit unions impact their communities. She specifically mentioned how credit unions educate young people on financial literacy including budgeting, long-term saving, and investment strategies. Olivia says, "This displays a huge giving back to the community since they are educating and supporting the youth."
Matthew Timmer is currently attending Iowa State University where he is pursuing a degree in Graphic Design. Matthew was selected for his essay where he explains how credit unions make a positive impact within the communities they serve. Matthew states, "Credit unions sponsor a variety of events in their communities by donating money and volunteer hours to local groups that host events, they also help by holding fundraising events to raise money for various charities and food banks."

This year CFCCU awarded a total $2,000 to its scholarship recipients as a way to illustrate its goal of helping youth members on their financial journey through life.
