Veridian to host free Community Shred Days across Iowa
WATERLOO, Iowa (May 1, 2019): Veridian Credit Union will host two Community Shred Days in four Iowa communities in May. Mobile shred trucks from Shred-it will accept unwanted, sensitive documents from attendees in Ankeny, Cedar Rapids, Iowa City and Waterloo. Each event is free and open to the public.
“Community Shred Day is the most-requested and best-attended event we host,” said Trina Becker, Veridian’s manager of loss prevention. “That shows people understand the importance of safely disposing of sensitive documents, and we’re happy to provide a free and convenient opportunity to do that.”
Veridian’s spring Community Shred Days include:
- Saturday, May 11 – 9 a.m. to noon
- DMACC Ankeny Campus, 2006 S. Ankeny Blvd., Lot L
- Saturday, May 18 – 9 a.m. to noon
- Veridian’s Ansborough branch, 1827 Ansborough Ave., Waterloo
- Veridian‘s Iowa City East Hy-Vee branch, 812 First Ave., Iowa City
- Veridian’s Westdale branch, 2810 Edgewood Rd. SW, Cedar Rapids
Each event site will accept up to two 25-pound containers of documents per person. Shredded material will be recycled into paper products. Since Veridian’s first Community Shred Day in 2009, the credit union estimates that attendees have shredded 889,500 pounds of documents. Recycling those documents has saved an estimated 7,538 trees. Event details are available at www.veridiancu.org/shred.
