Community 1st Credit Union Announces Retirement Open House for COO Teri Ortgies
OTTUMWA, IA – Long-time Community 1st Credit Union officer Teri Ortgies will retire November 9 after a career of more than 27 years at the Ottumwa-based credit union.
A retirement open house is planned Thursday, Nov. 1 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Hotel Ottumwa.
Ortgies was named chief operating officer in 2016, a move that capped her C1st service which began in January, 1991. She started as a part-time teller then rose through the ranks to become branch manager, director of branch operations, senior vice-president of retail operations and COO.
“Teri’s unconditional dedication, passion and determination to make C1st shine is an inspiration to all of us at the credit union,” said President/CEO Greg Hanshaw. “Her commitment to helping members played a key role in our success and growth.”
Ortgies participated in the launch of every new branch since Oskaloosa was opened as C1st’s first location outside of Ottumwa in 1994. The credit union now has branches in Albia, Bloomfield, Cedar Rapids, Centerville, Chariton, Fairfield, Grinnell, Indianola, Knoxville, Mount Pleasant, Oskaloosa, Pella, Washington and four in Ottumwa.
She has also served the community as president and board member of the Ottumwa Kiwanis Club, Race for the Cure committee member and the RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Programs) advisory committee.
“It’s difficult to express the gratitude and appreciation we all have for Teri and her many years of dedicated service,” added Hanshaw.
Ortgies has two children and four grandchildren.
