Roger Reiser to Retire as President/CEO of Community Choice
JOHNSTON, IOWA (Feb. 13, 2018) – Community Choice Credit Union
Roger Reiser, President/CEO of Community Choice Credit Union, announced that he will retire at the end of June. He has served Community Choice as President and Chief Executive Officer since 1999. Reiser, who has over 38 years in the credit union industry, has been instrumental in building Community Choice to the organization it is today. Under his leadership, the credit union has seen its assets grow from $98 million to nearly $500 million while more than doubling its membership.
“Congratulations to Roger for his accomplishments and dedication, and perhaps more importantly his retirement,” said Community Choice’s past Board Chair Jay Brewer. “He has left an indelible mark on Community Choice and has positioned its leadership for achieving future success for the credit union.” During his time at Community Choice, Reiser has become known as a strong advocate for credit unions for not only the region but also for the state of Iowa. He has served on several boards of directors, invested in business initiatives that support credit unions and been impactful in credit union legislation. Reiser said, “It has been an honor and a pleasure serving credit union members for almost four decades. It’s hard to believe how fast that time has flown by. It is great to see that the philosophy of people helping people is still strong in the credit union movement.” He continued, “My thanks go out to my credit union colleagues across the country and the thousands of members whom I have been able to serve on a personal basis over the years. I will miss the comradery and the satisfaction that comes with being involved in such a cooperative movement. Thanks for the opportunity to serve and unBank with Community Choice.” In retirement, Reiser plans to spend time enjoying the outdoors fishing and working on his farm. He is passionate about travelling and looking forward to spending more time with his wife, Cindy and their two sons.
As of June 1, 2018, Josh Cook will assume the role as President/CEO of Community Choice Credit Union. Cook has been with Community Choice since 2002 and currently serves as the credit union’s Chief Operating Officer. Under his leadership, the credit union amassed over 40 regional and national marketing and business development awards. “Vision and passion are in great supply when it comes to Josh,” said Community Choice’s Board Chair Joel Gabrielson, who also served on the succession committee. “He is committed to the success of our employees, our members and to the communities in which we serve. His 16 plus years of service will offer a seamless transition for staff and members.”
Cook is a graduate of Iowa State University. He has received the Certified Credit Union Executive (CCUE) designation and the Certified Chief Executive (CCE) designation. He lives in Ankeny with his wife, Brooke, and their five children. He is a strong advocate for credit unions and has had the privilege to be asked to speak at multiple conferences, webinars and participate as a panelist. He is a current Board of Director and Executive Leadership Team member for the American Heart Association of Central Iowa including the Chair of the 2019 Des Moines Heart Ball. “I am humbled and appreciative of the opportunity to serve the employees and members of Community Choice in this capacity,” Cook stated. “I believe in the future of Community Choice, we have the greatest members and the strongest team and are poised to continue to positively impact the lives of both our members and the communities we serve, well into the future.”
