2021-2022 ICUL Board of Directors Voting Results Announced

The voting period for the 2021-2022 ICUL Board of Directors ended on July 9. The following individuals will be officially inducted at the 2021 ICUL Annual Meeting to be held virtually on Tuesday, September 21, 2021.

  • $0-$50 million asset category: Brad Mertens of Metco Credit Union
  • $50-$246 million asset category: Mark Peters of Employees Credit Union,
  • $246 million & over asset category: Matt Dodds of Dupaco Community Credit Union

Ascentra Credit Union Dedicates Building in Honor of Dale Owen

Earlier this week, Ascentra Credit Union hosted more than 100 attendees, including ICUL President/CEO Murray Williams and VP Jaimie Miller, for a memorial and building dedication in honor of the late Dale Owen. During the event, more than $50,000 was awarded to charitable causes.

Dale served the Iowa credit union movement as Chair and Vice Chair of the ICUL board of directors, he also served as board Chair of the Iowa Credit Union Foundation and chaired ICUL's advocacy committee. Check out the Ascentra Credit Union Facebook page to find photos of this event. 

The Municipal Credit Union CEO Roger Hake Passes Away

Roger Hake, CEO of The Municipal Credit Union, passed away on Thursday, July 15. As a leader in the credit union community, Roger enjoyed his work and loved helping people meet their financial needs and goals. Read Roger's obituary and memorial information here.

Coopera recently launched a new website! The new site features a modern design focusing on Coopera’s ability to help credit unions and organizations increase multicultural membership and revenue growth.

This new website is an exciting step for Coopera, as it leads the way to expansion in new product and service areas, including: Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) designation assistance; Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) implementation; and evolution from being a Hispanic-focused asset to a multicultural resource. ICUL Member Services Consultant Jodi Allen and ICUF Executive Director and ICUL VP Jaimie Miller have completed the National Credit Union Foundation’s (NCUF) Credit Union Development (DE) Program.

DE Training is a unique experiential training program that provides lessons in credit union structure, providing insights into how credit unions can leverage their unique business model to help their members and communities overcome the financial and developmental issues they face.

Recently, NCUF announced that there will be a virtual 4-week session of the Credit Union Development Education (DE) Program October 18 - November 12, 2021. Click here to register.

Illinois Credit Union League Leading July 30 #ILoveMyCreditUnion Social Media Blitz

The Illinois Credit Union League is leading a nationwide social media "blitz" event on July 30.

Credit unions are asked to participate by posting, as well as encourage their members to post with the hashtag #ILoveMyCreditUnion. The goal of this social media blitz is to raise awareness about credit unions and share stories about the amazing things they do.

Posts may be branded per credit union, or you can take advantage of the pre-created resources located here on the signup page.
