ICUL News & Updates: Two Iowans Elected to CUNA Board

Pat Jury Becomes CUNA Chair, Pat Drennen Joins CUNA Board
Two long-time Iowa credit union advocates will serve on CUNA's Board of Directors for the coming year. Pat Jury, President and CEO, ICUL and Pat Drennen, CEO, 1st Gateway Credit Union stepped into new roles on the CUNA Board of Directors on Monday. Jury will serve as the Board Chair for the next 12 months, and Drennen joins the Board for the first time. Both were elected at the CUNA Board of Directors organizational meeting during CUNA's Annual Governmental Affairs Conference, which took place in Washington D.C. earlier this week.

"My commitment to you is to do whatever I can to advance the credit union movement. Working with Jim Nussle and his team to strengthen the CUNA/league's position as the fiercest champion for America's credit unions," said Jury in an interview with CUNA News.

Jury just completed his terms as board vice chairman and chairman of CUNA's Advocacy Committee. He joined the credit union movement in 1989 and was named president and CEO for ICUL in 2006. He has served on the CUNA board since 2009.

Drennen joined the credit union movement in 1987 as an Examiner for the Iowa Division of Credit Unions of Des Moines. In 1992, he was named the CEO of 1st Gateway Credit Union after four years as its assistant manager. He served as the ICUL Board Chair from 2007-2010 and has served on CUNA's Government Affairs Committee for the past several years.

RSVP for Capitol Hill Days on March 15 and April 12
Join us for one of ICUL's two Capitol Hill Days (formerly known as Chapter Lobby Visits) on March 15 or April 12 to connect with your legislator on issues of importance to the credit union industry.

A lunch and legislative briefing will begin at 11:30 a.m. at the State Historical Society of Iowa, 600 East Locust, Des Moines. Free parking is available in a ramp across from the Historical Society. It is encouraged to RSVP at least two weeks prior to the event.

Iowa Contingent Represents at GAC
A large contingent of credit union leaders represented Iowa during
CUNA's Annual Governmental Affairs Conference this week in Washington D.C. During the conference, a number of leaders met with Iowa's federal legislators to discuss credit union issues including, regulatory reform, removing barriers to member service and community outreach efforts.

Shown in the photo on the right, courtesy of CUNA News, Pat Jury, ICUL President and CEO and newly-elected CUNA Board Chair, addressed the attendees on Tuesday. Among the first-time attendees was Mallory Albert of Collins Community Credit Union, who was selected as Iowa's representative to Crash GAC. Congratulations Mallory, and thank you to everyone who was able to attend to advocate for the credit union movement.
