Member Service Representative:

This position will deliver an exceptional member experience by serving as a trusted financial partner to our members and their families.  This position is responsible for the safe and accurate handling of member deposits, withdrawals, advances, loan payments and other product and service transactions.  This position provides account information by phone and in person on a full range of credit union products and services.  The successful candidate will deliver professional, knowledgeable and exceptional member service through all delivery channels. 

Major Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Performs routine member transactions including deposits, withdrawals, transfers, cash advances, loan payments, shared branching transactions, gift cards, IRA transactions, coin machine transactions and any other member service transactions, as needed
  • Examines checks for endorsements and to verify other information such as dates, bank/credit union names, identification of the members/persons receiving payments and the legality of the documents
  • Processes transactions such as term share deposits, retirement savings plan contributions/withdrawals, wire requests, and night deposits
  • Counts currency, coins, and checks received, by hand or using currency-counting machine, to prepare them for deposit or shipment to the Federal Home Loan Bank
  • Redeems savings bonds
  • Process member check orders
  • Performs account maintenance for members who want to change their credit union products and services
  • Opens and closes accounts and sub-accounts as requested by the members
  • Records all transactions correctly and in compliance with credit union policies and procedures
  • Balances cash and check transactions at the closing of each day
  • Responsible for maintaining appropriate cash levels and sound cash controls and procedures for the cash recycler and vault
  • Maintains knowledge of the Credit Unions products and services to efficiently cross-sell to the membership
  • Provides support to team members in resolving problems and member complaints in a timely manner
  • Remains calm, composed, tactful and respectful even in demanding situations
  • Consistently projects a motivated and positive attitude
  • Demonstrates dependability, honest, promptness and commitment to excellence
  • Demonstrates a high-level of interpersonal skills by relating well to others
  • Displays tact and diplomacy, showing respect toward others’ opinions, and reflecting a team player approach
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Self-Starter
  • Strong math and logic skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Problem solver -ability to resolve and assist member complaints as they occur
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Familiarity with industry’s rules and regulations
